It is so much more difficult to break up with a person in today's world than it was 50 years ago. This, of course, is only an assumption beacuse I was not alive 50 years ago. I blame this new difficulty on media. Decades ago, when you said goodbye to someone it meant goodbye. Now, you have to not only tell everyone (your parents, siblings, best friends, roommates) but the entire world as well. Nothing is worse than proclaiming that you are single on facebook. After you "end your relationship" on facebook, you will no doubt recieve a billion text messages and phone calls from people you never talk to asking "what happened?" or "who broke up with who?" Breaking up today is public when once upon a time it was private. These social networks and cell phones that make life easier are beginning to make it much, much harder.
